Handful of Green Terror athletes compete at Battleground Relays
FREDERICKSBURG, Va. – Chuck Kronmiller (Norristown, Pa./Methacton) finished fourth in the javelin and sixth in the discus to lead McDaniel to at the 2010 Battleground Relays hosted by Mary Washington in men’s and women’s outdoor track and field action on Saturday.
In its first action of the spring, the Green Terror took eight athletes to compete in the non-scoring meet.
Kronmiller tossed the javelin 46.35 meters to finish fourth in the event and earn one of four Centennial Conference qualifying marks on the day. His hurl of 29.18 meters in the discus placed sixth while his throw of 9.34 meters was eighth in the shot put.
Jake Nichols (Frederick, Md./Gov. Thomas Johnson) ran a personal best and hit a qualifying standard in the preliminaries of the 110 hurdles (17.92 seconds). He bettered that time to finish fifth in the finals (17.53).
Nichols added a seventh-place finish in the shot put (9.37 meters) and 12th-place showing in the discus (21.39).
CJ Naper (New Windsor, Md./South Carroll) added a fifth-place showing in the 1,500, leading four McDaniel competitors in the event with a time of 4:12.66.
Roxanne Fleischer (Westminster, Md./Winters Mill) and Emily Hajjar (Frederick, Md./Urbana) were the lone competitors for the women, finishing sixth (5:12.17) and 24th (5:55.06), respectively, in the 1,500. Fleischer’s mark was a personal best and conference qualifying mark.
The Green Terror returns to action at the Jopson Invitational hosted by Bridgewater on Saturday.
