McDaniel men, women finish 21st at Regionals

WESTMINSTER, Md. – Lindsay Wilson (Catonsville, Md./Seton Keogh) finished 16th overall to lead the McDaniel women to a 21st-place finish at the 2008 NCAA Division III Mideast cross country regional at Waynesburg on Saturday.

            The Green Terror tallied 609 points to finish 10 places better than 2007 and with 163 fewer points in the 43-team field. Johns Hopkins won the team title with 80 points, 49 points better than second-place Dickinson.
            On the men’s side, McDaniel also placed 21st with 637 points in the 43-team field. Carnegie Mellon won the team title with 37 points.
            Wilson covered the 6,000-meter course in a time of 23:04, which was 1 minute, 3 seconds behind race winner Christa Johnson (Ursinus). Wilson missed the cut for next week’s national meet by 20 seconds and six places.
            Roxanne Fleischer (Westminster, Md./Winters Mill) finished 81st overall with a time of 24:49 while Emily Peoples (Wilmington, Del./Brandywine) was 84th with a time of 24:52.
            Laura Shinn (Weehawken, N.J./Pennington) and Rachel Griffith (Eldersburg, Md./Liberty) rounded out the McDaniel scorers with times of 27:47 (225th) and 28:02 (229th), respectively.
            Katie Griffith (Eldersburg, Md./Liberty) and Lauren DiNatalie (Auburn, N.H./Manchester Memorial) rounded out the McDaniel competitors, crossing 269th (30:13) and 297th (32:33), respectively.
            On the men’s side, Kevin Bowman (Westminster, Md./Brunswick) led the way with a 91st-place showing in a time of 27:34.
            CJ. Naper (New Windsor, Md./South Carroll) and Rob Kelvey (Westminster, Md./Westminster) were 103rd (27:47) and 112th (27:53) overall, respectively.
            Cody Crutchley (Frederick, Md./Gov. Thomas Johnson) was 165th with a time of 28:40 while Dan White (Union Bridge, Md./Francis Scott Key) rounded out the scorers with a time of 29:00 to place 179th.
            Russell Morin (Lusby, Md./Patauxet) finished 210th with a time of 29:47.
