BALTIMORE, Md. - Chris Jones (Centreville, Va./Centreville) finished 18th overall with a time of 17:02.87 to lead McDaniel to a third-place finish at the Baltimore Metro Meet in season-opening men's cross country action on Friday.
Jones turned in the ninth-fastest time on the Oregon Ridge course and the 10th-fastest 5,000-meter time all-time for the Green Terror, who scored 72 points. Johns Hopkins won the meet with a perfect 15 points.
Peter Merkel was 19th overall in the race with a time of 17:05.07, which is No. 11 all-time for the Green Terror on the course and 12th all-time on any 5K course.
Jason Stein (Potomac, Md./Thomas S. Wooton) and Dan Reinholtz (Barkeley Heights, N.J./Govenor Livingston) rounded out the McDaniel competitors in 46th (20:43.63) and 52nd (23:49.50), respectively.
The Green Terror returns to action at its own home invitational on Saturday, Sept. 8. Action begins at 9:40 a.m.
