Merkel crosses 12th

GRANTHAM, Pa. – Peter Merkel (Ellicott City, Md./Homeschool) finished 12th overall to lead McDaniel to a sixth-place finish at the Messiah Invitational in men's cross country action on Saturday.

With just seven runners on the course, the Green Terror finished with 146 points. The S.W.I.F.T. Racing Club took the team title with 26 points. Messiah was the top collegiate team with 38 points.

Merkel finished the 8,000-meter race of the season in a time of 29:26.90.

Calvin Ball (Westminster, Md./Westminster) added his best placefinish of the year, crossing 18th with a time of 30:02.00.

Graham Miles (Harford, Conn./Kingswood-Oxford) was 40th with a time of 32:17.50.

The Green Terror returns to action at the Gettysburg Invitational on Saturday.
