Merkel finishes 30th

YORK, Pa. – Peter Merkel (Ellicott City, Md./Homeschool) finished 30th overall to lead McDaniel to a seventh-place finish at the Coach Achtzehn Classic hosted by York (Pa.) in men's cross country action on Saturday.

The Green Terror finished with 198 points with only five runners at the meet. Franklin & Marshall won the 12-team meet with 38 points.

Merkel finished the team's first 8K of the season in a time of 28:31.67.

Jim Heilman (Lutherville, Md./Baltimore Lutheran) placed 38th overall with a time of 29:16.18 while Calvin Ball (Westminster, Md./Westminster) was 39th with a time of 29:21.97.

Kyle Crouse (Keymar, Md./Francis Scott Key) finished 81st (32:07.89) while Jason Stein (Potomac, Md./Thomas S. Wooton) was 86th (32.58.17).

McDaniel returns to action at the Dickinson Long-Short Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 28. Action begins at 10 a.m.
