Jones places 26th in short race

BIG SPRING, Pa. – Chris Jones (Centreville, Va./Centreville) finished 26th to lead McDaniel to an eighth-place in the short-course race at the Dickinson Long-Short Invitational in men's cross country action on Saturday.

The Green Terror did not enter three or more runners in the 8,000-meter long-course race and, thus, was not eligible for a combined team score. McDaniel did, however, finish the 4,000-meter short course race with 90 points to place eighth in the 20-team field – and was seventh among the Division III teams.

Jones finished the best Green Terror 4K time ever on the course, crossing in a time of 13:05.6.

Peter Merkel (Ellicott City, Md./Homeschool) added the second-fastest time ever on the course, finishing 35th in a time of 13:11.2.

Jim Heilman (Lutherville, Md./Baltimore Lutheran) was 73rd with a time of 13:59.4.

Calvin Ball (Westminster, Md./Westminster) was the only McDaniel runner in the 8K race, finishing 117th with a time of 29:41.3, which ranks fifth all-time on the course.

McDaniel returns to action at the Paul Short Run on Saturday.
