HAVERFORD, Pa. – McDaniel rallied late to break two deadlocks and record a doubleheader sweep of Haverford in Centennial Conference (CC) softball action on Sunday.

The Green Terror (14-12, 3-5 CC) scored twice in the top of the seventh for a 4-2 game-one win before plating one in the top of the 10th inning of game two to complete the sweep, 2-1.

Caroline Brehm (Hanover, Pa./New Oxford), one day after pitching 17 innings, threw all 17 innings with 22 combined strikeouts. She fanned eight in game one before mowing down 14 in the nightcap.

Ally Galati (Milford, Pa./Cornwall Central) led the offense with four hits, including a critical bunt single in the decisive 10th inning.

In game two, Stephanie Wolfson led off the bottom of the third with a single before taking second on a sacrifice. Back-to-back singles from Jen DiCandilo and Dayle Comerford staked the hosts to a 1-0 lead.

An error allowed Jackie Liebowitz (Bellerose, N.Y./Benjamin N. Cardozo) to reach second to lead off the top of the fourth. After moving to third on a wild pitch, she scored on an Emily Sneeringer (Hanover, Pa./South Western) single to left, knotting the game at 1.

Neither team could scratch out another run until the international tiebreaker went into effect in the top of the 10th.

With Amy Baumgardner (Hanover, Pa./South Western) at second base, Rachel Sidney (East Meadow, N.Y./East Meadow) laid down a bunt and was able to beat it out without a play to put runners at the corners.

Galati followed with a bunt single of her own to load the bases. After a strikeout, a Liebowitz RBI groundout gave McDaniel a one-run advantage.

In the bottom of the frame, Kristin Tatum successfully bunted Brianna Lowey to third base before the Green Terror went home on a ball back to the pitcher, getting the second out of the inning.

Brehm finished off the sweep with a strikeout looking for her highest single-game strikeout count in 11 outings.

In the opener, Sidney drew a walk to lead off the game before Galati reached on a bunt single.

A Tracy Davis (Christiansburg, Va./Christiansburg) double scored Sidney before a one-out RBI fielder's choice from Liebowitz plated Galati for a 2-0 lead.

Elizabeth Newman was hit by a pitch to lead off the bottom of the frame before an error on the ensuing sacrifice attempt put runners at the corners. A double steal scored Newman to cut the lead in half.

A Newman leadoff double in the third, sacrifice bunt and wild pitch knotted the game at 2.

With one out in the top of the seventh, Stacey Armacost (Glenville, Pa./South Western) led off with a single before Sneeringer followed with a double to put runners at second and third.

After Sneeringer gave way to pinch-runner Leigh Blohm (Bel Air, Md./Toms River North [N.J.]), a fielder's choice RBI off Baumgardner's bat allowed everyone to reach safely and break the deadlock.

Sidney followed with an RBI single for a two-run advantage.

The Green Terror returns to action at home against Ursinus on Saturday. The first game of the doubleheader begins at 1 p.m.
