LANCASTER, Pa. – Two members of the McDaniel softball team have been named to the All-Centennial Conference (CC) team, released on Wednesday.
Caroline Brehm (Hanover, Pa./New Oxford) was named the conference's Pitcher of the Year and earned a first-team nod while Jackie Liebowitz (Bellerose, N.Y./Benjamin N. Cardozo) was tabbed honorable mention.
Brehm, a sophomore right-handed pitcher, joined Muhlenberg's Kelsey Jones as Co-Pitchers of the Year. It was the second straight top pitching honor for Brehm, who becomes the first repeat selection as Pitcher of the Year since Ursinus' Lauren Davis-Macedonia won three in a row between 2008-10. She is the third different Green Terror hurler to be named Pitcher of the Year. Brehm is currently 20-10 in the circle with one save. She has a conference-best 1.43 earned-run average over her 220 1/3 innings pitched. She is second in all of Division III with 334 strikeouts against just 62 walks. She has allowed just 143 hits and thrown 29 complete games. She has 16 double-digit strikeout performances this season. She also threw a perfect game earlier this season.
Liebowitz, a senior second baseman, has started 33 of the 35 games she has played this season with a .229 batting average. She currently has 24 hits, including six doubles, a triple and a home run. She has 15 RBIs and nine runs scored.
The Green Terror (23-17, 10-6 CC) returns to action at home against Stevenson in the first round of the ECAC South tournament on Wednesday. Game time is 4:30 p.m.
