CENTREVILLE, Mass. – Caroline Brehm (Hanover, Pa./New Oxford), a junior on the McDaniel softball team, has been named the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III South Pitcher of the Week for the week of Apr. 21-27.
Brehm was named the Centennial Conference (CC) Pitcher of the Week on Monday. It is the second time this season she has earned both honors.
Brehm led the Green Terror (25-13, 11-5 CC) to a 4-2 week, recording 46 strikeouts in 31 1/3 innings in the circle. She went 3-1 with a save. She limited opponents to a .189 batting average. Her 46 strikeouts on the week 1,024 for her career to make her just the second pitcher in CC history to reach the 1,000-strikeout mark. A week removed from breaking the career wins record at McDaniel, she enters the conference tournament with 66 career wins and needs just 18 strikeouts to match the conference record.
For the season, she is 22-9 in the circle with a 1.31 ERA, striking out a Division III-best 302 batters in 213 innings.
McDaniel returns to action in the CC tournament at Muhlenberg on Saturday. The Green Terror opens play in the double-elimination tournament against Haverford at 10 a.m.
