Seven earn All-CC softball honors

LANCASTER, Pa. – Seven members of the McDaniel softball team have been named to the All-Centennial Conference (CC) team, released on Tuesday.

Cassie Rickrode (Hanover, Pa./Delone Catholic), Alicia Wagner (Bradenton, Fla./Lakewood Ranch), Carly Deichman (Easton, Pa./Freedom), Tori Wilkins (Lutz, Fla./Land O'Lakes), Michaela Persinger (Emmitsburg, Md./Catoctin) and Megan Coyle (Las Vegas, Nev./Bishop Gorman) were all named to the first team. Tayler Hishon (Fort Lauderdale, Fla./St. Thomas Aquinas) was the lone second-team selection. The six first-team selections are the most by a single team in conference history.

Rickrode, a sophomore pitcher, is making her first all-conference appearance. She posted a 2.70 earned-run average in 109 innings of work. Rickrode made 23 appearances, including 17 starts, going 10-4 in the circle with one save. She had seven complete games that included three shutouts. She led the team with 73 strikeouts and had a 0.1 flyout-to-groundout ratio, inducing just 32 flyouts compared to 218 groundouts.

Wagner, a junior first baseman, earned her first all-conference nod. Starting 38 of her 39 appearances, Wagner led the team and ranked fourth in the conference with a .410 batting average. She led the team with 48 hits, including eight doubles and three home runs for a .556 slugging percentage. She drove in 28 runs and scored 13 runs.

Deichman, a senior second baseman, is making her third all-conference appearance. She was a second-team nod as a freshman and honorable mention honoree as a sophomore. Starting 32 of her 33 appearances, she hit .307 on the year, including posting a .381 average in conference play. Deichman had seven doubles and a home run among her 27 base knocks. She also drove in 10 runs, scored 14 times and was 3-for-3 in stolen bases.

Wilkins, a junior outfielder, is making her first all-conference appearance. Starting 36 of her 38 appearances, Wilkins was second on the team with a .366 average. She led the team and conference with 34 RBIs and five home runs. She also had seven doubles and a triple among her 45 hits for a .561 slugging percentage. Wilkins was also 6-for-6 in stolen-base attempts.

Persinger, a freshman outfielder, is one of three freshmen to earn all-conference honors in their first season. Starting 35 of her 37 appearances, Persinger rapped out 33 hits in 95 at bats for a .347 average. She added four doubles and four home runs for a .516 slugging in her rookie season. She walked 18 times and was hit by nine pitches for a .492 on-base percentage. Persinger also added 25 runs scored and 18 RBIs.

Coyle, a sophomore designated player, is making her first all-conference appearance. Starting 34 of her 38 appearances, Coyle hit .365 on the year with 38 knocks that included four doubles and a home run. She drove in 16 runs and scored 13 more. She also walked 19 times.

Hishon, a senior third baseman, earned her third all-conference honor after being tabbed honorable mention as a freshman and first team as a junior. Starting all 39 of her appearances, Hishon finished the year with a .336 batting average. She finished third on the team with 42 hits that included a team-best nine doubles. She also had a triple and three home runs for a .496 slugging percentage. Hishon also recorded 27 RBIs and 24 runs scored and walked 18 times.

Senior Morgan Scardina (Pasadena, Md./Seton Keough), who made 36 starts among 39 appearances in center field, was named to the all-sportsmanship team. She hit .276 from the leadoff spot with a team bests of 29 runs scored and eight stolen bases.

The Green Terror advanced the CC tournament and finished the season with an overall record of 21-20-1 (12-4 CC).
