Elfert, Warrenfeltz tabbed scholar athletes
STARKVILLE, Miss. - Megan Elfert (Finksburg, Md./Westminster), a rising junior, and Erinne Warrenfeltz (Smithsburg, Md./Middletown), a rising sophomore on the McDaniel softball team, have been named to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) scholar-athlete team for the 2009 season, announced recently.
Elfert started all 33 games in which she played, ranking fifth on the team with a .235 batting average. She rapped out 20 hits, scored 10 runs and drove in seven runs.
Warrenfeltz started all 33 games in which she played, ranking fourth on the team with a .270 batting average. She rapped out 24 hits, including 10 doubles and three home runs, and scored 12 runs. She drove in eight runs.
To qualify for the NFCA scholar-athlete team, a player must achieve a 3.5 or better GPA on a 4.0 scale.
The Green Terror finished the season at 13-22 (3-13 Centennial Conference).
