Snoops records double-double to lead Green Terror over Washington

CHESTERTOWN, Md. - Three players reached double figures, including a double-double performance from Whitney Snoops (Millersville, Md./Archbishop Spalding), to lead McDaniel to a 62-47 victory over Washington (Md.) in Centennial Conference (CC) women's basketball action on Wednesday.

Snoops notched 12 points and a career-high 14 rebounds for her fourth collegiate double-double to pace the Green Terror (6-4, 4-2 CC), who won its sixth consecutive game.

Jane O'Donnell led the Shorewomen (5-6, 3-3 CC) with 13 points.

Katelyn Fischer (Reisterstown, Md./Seton Keough) scored McDaniel's first six points as part of a 20-2 run over the game's first 7:50.

Six different Green Terror players scored during the opening stretch while the defense held Washington to 1 of 6 shooting and forced six turnovers.

McDaniel tallied the next six points to stretch the lead to as many as 22 at 26-4 with 8:25 to play in the opening half before the visitors reeled off the final nine points of the first half to take a 37-14 lead into the intermission.

A 7-0 burst over a 2-minute, 42-second span stretched the Green Terror's lead to as high as 50-22 with 11:15 to play.

Fischer added 12 points for McDaniel while Sally Grace (Catonsville, Md./Mount de Sales Academy) added 10. Cara Thompson (Hagerstown, Md./North Hagerstown) chipped in eight points and five rebounds while Ali Moreland (Davidsonville, Md./South River) had six points, five steals and three assists.

The Green Terror returns to action at home against Haverford on Saturday. Game time is 1 p.m.
