LANCASTER, Pa. - Ashley Lyles (Laurel, Md./St. Vincent Pallotti), a senior on the McDaniel women's basketball team, has been named the Centennial Conference (CC) Co-Player of the Week for the week of Jan. 11-17.
Lyles was a key part of a 3-0 week for the Green Terror (10-4, 9-2 CC) that helped extend the team's current winning streak to 10 games behind a pair of big conference road wins and a home victory.
Lyles averaged 13.7 points per game on the week. She had a pair of double-digit scoring performances, including finishing a point shy of her career best with 18 points at Franklin & Marshall on Saturday. She shot 46.2 percent from the floor and hit 17 of 28 from the free-throw line. Lyles added 17 rebounds, five assists and four steals. She also blocked 11 shots on the week, including swatting a career high-tying seven on Saturday.
On Tuesday at ninth-ranked Muhlenberg, she finished with 14 points, including hitting the game-tying layup with 1.5 seconds remaining in regulation to force overtime.
For the season, Lyles ranks second on the team with 8.5 points per game and 5.4 rebounds per game. She also has 31 blocked shots, 19 steals and 18 assists.
McDaniel returns to action at No. 21 Gettysburg on Wednesday. Game time is 6 p.m.
