McDaniel rolls to 13th straight

Green Terror holds York to seven points over first 16 minutes
YORK, Pa. - Kim Acton (Severna Park, Md./Severna Park) netted a career-high 12 points to lead McDaniel in a balanced attack, defeating York (Pa.) 81-56 in non-conference women's basketball action on Tuesday.
Whitney Snoops (Millersville, Md./Archbishop Spalding) added 12 points while Sally Grace (Catonsville, Md./Mount de Sales Academy) and Cara Thompson (Hagerstown, Md./North Hagerstown) each netted 10 for the Green Terror (13-4), who extended its current winning streak to 13 games and notched its largest win in the series.
Mandy Parshall led the Spartans (7-11) with 16 points while Jamie Polan added 11.
Knotted at 2, Katelyn Fischer (Reisterstown, Md./Seton Keough) hit back-to-back buckets to spark a 27-3 burst that gave McDaniel a 29-5 lead with 5:45 to play in the opening half.
The lead swelled to as many as 26 on an Acton layup with 3:37 showing.
A Parshall layup with 3:19 on the clock snapped a 13-minute, 40-second cold spell from the floor. She converted the ensuing free throw to reach the 10-point plateau.
Including the three-point play, York netted seven of the half's final 11 points to make it a 37-14 game at halftime.
Out of a timeout after the hosts had pulled within 43-24 with 16:19 to play, the Green Terror put together a 9-0 burst to extend the lead to 28.
McDaniel extended the lead to as large as 32 at 68-36.
Thompson added six assists and four steals while Acton grabbed a career-best eight rebounds.
Seven McDaniel players finished with no fewer than eight points. Ali Moreland (Davidsonville, Md./South River) and Fischer each netted nine while freshman Rachael Rybak (Reisterstown, Md./Franklin) chipped in a career-best eight.
The Green Terror returns to action at home against Bryn Mawr on Saturday. Game time is 1 p.m.
