WESTMINSTER, Md. – Upon the encouragement of the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA), the McDaniel women's basketball coaching staff will take part in the organization's Pink Zone campaign for its home game against Muhlenberg on Saturday.
The WBCA Pink Zone initiative is a global, unified effort for the WBCA's nation of coaches to assist in raising breast cancer awareness on the court, across campuses, in communities and beyond. The organization has designated Feb. 11-20 for its initiative. All coaches have been asked to wear pink on the bench. The goal is to educate, create awareness and motivate everyone to learn about cancer prevention.
The Green Terror coaching staff is asking for the support of its fans at Saturday's game to show support for all cancer awareness by wearing something pink. Pink is the color that was chosen to recognize breast cancer.
After more than 4,600 institutions participated in the event over the last three seasons, no fewer than 1,500 institutions across the country have already committed to participating in this year's event.
Admission is free to all home McDaniel regular-season basketball games. Game time on Saturday is 1 p.m.
