McDaniel finishes fourth at own invitational
ABBOTTSTOWN, Pa. – Morgan Koopman (Finksburg, Md./McDonogh) shot a team-low round of 82 on Sunday to lead McDaniel to a fourth-place finish at its own invitational at The Bridges Golf Club in women's golf action on Saturday and Sunday.
As a team, the Green Terror posted a two-round total of 728 – the best of team score of any of the three Centennial Conference teams in attendance. McDaniel bettered its team score by 20 strokes on Sunday, firing a 354 after a 374 in the opening round.
New York University won the team title with a score of 679, improving by nine strokes from Saturday's 345 with a 334, led by individual medalist Theresa Apoznanski's 157 (79-78). Kutztown was second with a 687 (354-333) while Cortland finished third with a 722 (371-351).
Koopman finished tied with Jennie Weiner (Setauket, N.Y./Ward Melville) for eighth place overall with a 36-hole total of 172. Koopman improved from a 90 with her 82 in the second round while Weiner shot an 89 on Saturday and 83 on Sunday.
Katherine Restrepo (Wyomissing, Pa./Wyomissing Area) finished 21st overall with a score of 191, carding a 97 on Saturday and 94 on Sunday.
Jennipher Bencriscutto (Oro Valley, Ariz./Ironwood Ridge) posted a two-round total of 193 to finish 22nd, registering a 98 in the first round and 95 in the second round.
The Green Terror returns to action at the Gettysburg Spring Invitational on Sunday, Apr. 10.
