Four earn All-CC women's lacrosse honors
Baer, Nichols named to first team
LANCASTER, Pa. – Four members of the McDaniel women's lacrosse team have been named to the All-Centennial Conference (CC) team, released on Monday.
Brittany Baer (Manchester, Md./Westminster) and Steph Nichols (Wilmington, Del./St. Mark's) were named to the first team while Leanne Hollinger (Westminster, Md./Winters Mill) earned a spot on the second team and Paige Messersmith (Phoenix, Md./Dulaney) was tabbed honorable mention.
Baer, a senior attacker, earned her third straight All-CC nod and second consecutive first-team selection after being named to the second team in 2007. She led the Green Terror (10-6, 4-5 CC) with a CC-high 55 goals and 64 points. She added a program-record 64 draw controls to go with 29 ground balls and a team-best 28 caused turnovers.
Nichols, a sophomore defender, made her first All-CC appearance after leading the defense with 33 ground balls. She ranked tied for second on the team with 19 caused turnovers and was third on the squad with 25 draw controls while adding a goal and an assist to the attack.
Hollinger, a senior goalkeeper, earned her second all-conference nod after being named honorable mention as a junior. She finished the season with a 9.77 goals-against average and .476 save percentage. She recorded 131 saves in the team's 16 games.
Messersmith, a freshman midfielder, was tabbed honorable mention in her first season. She ranked fourth on the team with 26 points on 20 goals and six assists. She was second on the team with 48 draw controls and added 19 ground balls and 14 caused turnovers.
