No. 6 Gettysburg tallies first eight en route to 10-5 win over McDaniel

WESTMINSTER, Md. – Hannah Church scored three goals to lead sixth-ranked Gettysburg to a 10-5 Centennial Conference (CC) women's lacrosse victory over McDaniel on Wednesday.

The Bullets (8-2, 5-0 CC) raced out to an 8-0 lead in the game's first 21:13, converting eight of their first 10 shots.

Lisa Jurd (Columbia, Md./Hammond) and Paige Messersmith (Phoenix, Md./Dulaney) paced the Green Terror (1-10, 1-5 CC) with a pair of goals each.

Lindsay Menton found Marnie Commins for a 1-0 lead just 54 seconds into the contest before Church scored off a Lexi Kelly feed 4:21 later.

Kelsey Markiewicz registered all three of her points a 5-minute, 28-second span, bookending an assists to Lindsey Robinson with goals to stretch the lead to 5-0 with 13:46 to play.

Commins had one of her two assists on Markiewicz's first marker.

Robinson and Mention made it a 7-0 game with 10:56 on the clock before Church capped the opening stretch with an unassisted goal.

Jurd got McDaniel on the board with 4:20 showing in the first half before Messersmith trimmed the deficit to 8-2 with a solo run 2 minutes, 25 seconds on the other side of intermission.

Church responded 2:23 later before Jurd sparked a three-goal flurry by McDaniel with 18:02 on the clock.

Messersmith added a fourth unassisted marker nearly a minute and a half later before Chelsea Watkins (Columbia, Md./Hammond) hit Brittany Lines (Pasadena, Md./Chesapeake) with 13:08 showing to make it a 9-5 game.

Katie Blumenthal set the final margin with 7:39 showing.

The Green Terror returns to action at Muhlenberg on Saturday. Game time is 12 p.m.
