McDaniel athletes take part in Polar Bear Plunge

On Saturday, Jan. 28, 23 McDaniel student-athletes and two coaches participated in the 16th Annual Polar Bear Plunge at Sandy Point State Park in Maryland to benefit the Special Olympics Maryland.

Members of the Green Terror field hockey, women's lacrosse, women's tennis and volleyball teams participated in the event, raising $1,910 that contributed to the over $2.5-million raised by the event, the biggest of its kind in the United States.

There were more than 14,000 participants in total and all 23 McDaniel student-athletes went into the freezing water that day, some waist deep and others choosing to go completely under.
