Entrot tallies three in debut
ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. – Tied at 4-all, No. 20 Elizabethtown scored five straight goals en route to an 18-8 victory over McDaniel in non-conference women's lacrosse action on Saturday.
Leigh Flounlacker paced the Blue Jays (1-1) with five goals and five assists while Becky Porter added three goals and three assists.
After Entrot knotted the game at 4-all with a free-position goal at the 15:26 mark, Flounlacker found Katie Scheurich with 14:08 to play to start a five-goal flurry over the next 10:04.
Samantha Redles pushed the lead to 6-4 with 7:38 on the first-half clock before Flounlacker scored 1:10 apart – both off Porter assists – to make it an 8-4 game with 5:27 showing.
Scheurich finished a solo run to cap the burst.
An Anna Beaudry (Amherst, Mass./Amherst Regional) unassisted goal and Messersmith free-position goal closed the deficit to three with 1:25 to play in the opening half but Caitlin Knight scored just 12 seconds later to stretch the lead to 10-6 at the break.
Flounlacker hit Madalyn Schnader just 1:31 into the second half before Messersmith and Beaudry reversed roles, scoring 3 minutes, 8 seconds apart to once again make it a three-goal game with 24:46 to play.
However, Knight found Kara Soleski to start a 7-0 run to close the game.
Porter and Flounlacker each scored twice in the final 23:18. Flounlacker had three of her helpers during the stretch.
Emily Butler opened the game, finishing a feed from Soleski just 58 seconds into the contest.
Entrot responded off a Mary Tokolish (Moorestown, N.J./Moorestown) assist to tie the game with 26:51 to play in the first half.
Flounlacker once again put the hosts on top before Messersmith and Entrot each converted free-position tallies 39 seconds apart to give McDaniel a 3-2 lead with 23:47 remaining.
Free-position goals from Butler and Porter in a 1-minute, 48-second span turned the one-goal deficit into a one-goal lead with 18:49 showing.
Messersmith added five draw controls while Chelsea Watkins (Columbia, Md./Hammond) added three. Entrot and Beaudry each corralled two.
The Green Terror returns to action at home against Messiah on Wednesday. Game time is 4 p.m.
