Entrot notches 10 points
WESTMINSTER, Md. – McDaniel jumped out to an 8-0 lead in the game's first 12:29 en route to a 17-5 non-conference women's lacrosse victory over Bridgewater on Wednesday.
Danielle Entrot (Ellicott City, Md./Centennial) led the Green Terror (4-3) with 10 points on four goals and six assists for the highest individual point total in a game since 2008. Paige Messersmith (Phoenix, Md./Dulaney) added seven points on four goals and three assists.
Jenny Logan led the Eagles (3-4) with three goals while Katie Freeman scored the other two. Leading scorer Taylor Chamberlain, who entered the day with 26 goals and 14 assists, was limited to just one assist.
Entrot tallied her 20th and 21st goals of the season to stake McDaniel to a 2-0 lead before 3:24 had elapsed in the contest, including finishing the first of Messersmith's assists 51 seconds into the game.
Entrot made it a 5-0 game with a free-position goal at the 22:49 mark.
Chelsea Watkins (Columbia, Md./Hammond) connected with Mary Tokolish (Moorestown, N.J./Moorestown) 24 seconds later to push the lead to 6-0 before Entrot tallied her sixth point of the day, assisting on a Watkins goal with 21:13 to play.
A Bopst free-position goal capped the 8-0 start.
A Logan free-position goal with 12:24 to play in the first half broke up the shutout before Chamberlain found Freeman with 11:49 to play, closing the deficit to 8-2.
Messersmith hit Monica Parcell (Prospect Park, Pa./Interboro) for the first of her three goals with 11:12 to play before Freeman responded with a free-position tally with 9:53 on the clock.
Two Messersmith goals 3:11 apart – the first from Entrot and the second on a free-position shot – coupled with an Anna Beaudry (Amherst, Mass./Amherst)-to-Entrot connection stretched the lead to 12-3 at the break.
Two more Entrot helpers on the other side of the break stretched the advantage to 14-3 with 26:02 to play.
Entrot found Messersmith with 26:33 to play and then hit Danielle DeColli (Mt. Airy, Md./South Carroll) in traffic just 31 seconds later.
A Logan unassistsed tally returned the advantage to 10 before Messersmith hit Parcell with 17:48 to paly.
Messersmith then intercepted a pass and went right to the cage for her fourth of the day with 14:24 to play.
Logan and Parcell traded goals 1:38 apart to set the final margin with 10:22 to play.
McDaniel finished with a 26-11 advantage in shots. Messersmith added six draw controls.
The Green Terror returns to action at home against Haverford on Saturday. Game time is 1 p.m.
