WESTMINSTER, Md. – McDaniel will host a 2013 Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) South Region women's lacrosse championship tournament first-round game on Wednesday at Kenneth R. Gill Stadium in Westminster, Md.
The second-seeded Green Terror (9-8) will take on seventh-seeded Cazenovia (9-8) on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. The winner of that game will face the winner of another first-round game between No. 3 seed Morrisville State (9-7) and No. 6 Medaille (11-4) on Saturday. No. 4 Fairleigh Dickinson-Florham (12-7) and No. 5 Neumann (14-5) play in the final first-round game on Wednesday and will take on top-seeded Lebanon Valley (11-5 in Saturday's other semifinal.
With Lebanon Valley unable to host, both semifinals and Sunday's championship game will take place at the highest remaining seed. McDaniel, as the No. 2 seed, would host the three games with a victory at game times yet to be determined.
The Green Terror advanced to the Centennial Conference (CC) tournament for the first time since 2009, dropping an 11-10 decision at Washington (Md.) in the first-round game.
Danielle Entrot (Ellicott City, Md./Centennial) leads the team in scoring this season with 56 goals, 16 assists and 72 points. She also has 47 draw controls, 14 ground balls and seven caused turnovers. Paige Messersmith (Phoenix, Md./Dulaney) is second on the squad in scoring with 38 goals, 13 assists and 51 points. She has a team highs in draw controls (88), ground balls (49) and caused turnovers (25).
Kate Keim (Moorestown, N.J./Moorestown) and Kaylee Hoover (Winter Garden, Fla./West Orange) lead the defense with 27 and 22 ground balls, respectively. Lauren McCadden (Bel Air, Md./C. Milton Wright) has 20 ground balls and 12 caused turnovers.
Lily Galzerano (Newburyport, Mass./Newburyport) is 7-4 between the pipes with 97 saves and a .445 save percentage. She has an 11.65 goals-against average and has picked up 20 ground balls.
