Jacobs nets three

CHESTERTOWN, Md. – Washington (Md.) scored eight straight goals to take an 11-3 lead en route to an 18-11 Centennial Conference (CC) women's lacrosse victory over McDaniel on Saturday.

Julia Jacobs (Stevensonville, Md./St.Mary's) led the Green Terror (9-7, 5-4 CC) with three goals while Maggie Quinn (Crofton, Md./Archbishop Spalding) added two goals and an assist to go with six draw controls and three ground balls.

With the loss, McDaniel will be the No. 4 seed in the upcoming conference tournament and will host No. 5 Muhlenberg in Wednesday's first-round game. Game time will be finalized on Monday's pre-championship conference call.

Emily Hubley led the Shorewomen (11-4, 7-2 CC) to the No. 3 seed with eight goals while Caroline Lovett added two goals and five assists.

Tied at 3-all after the teams traded goals over the first 12:44, Hubley finished off back-to-back feeds from Carly Eisenbrandt to put the hosts in front by two with 14:44 to play in the opening half.

Hubley had another pair of back-to-back markers later in the 14-minute, 40-second burst of eight straight markers that stretched the lead to 11-3 with 59 ticks left.

Two Jacobs goals – and unassisted tally and one from Quinn – in the final 23 seconds of the half made it an 11-5 game at the break.

Danielle Entrot (Ellicott City, Md./Centennial) and Monica Parcell (Prospect Park, Pa./Interboro) each finished solo runs in the first 4:48 of the second half to close the deficit to 11-7.

Hubley, however, sparked another 6-0 run with an unassisted tally with 22:39 to play.

She added two more and Lovett had three assists during the nearly 10-minute stretch.

Bridget Bopst (Westminster, Md./South Carroll) and Sydney Slavin traded marker to make it an 18-8 game with 5:35 to play before Quinn, Sam Barbeito (Wolfsville, Md./Middletown) and Entrot scored in the game's final 2:41 to set the final margin.

Mallory Michel (Lititz, Pa./Warwick answered a Hubley goal with a free-position tally with 25:58 showing in the first half before a Quinn free-position goal countered a Lovett tally 2:33 later.

Alli Dudley and Jacobs had the final exchange of goals 1:24 apart.
