McDaniel to battle for CC title

WESTMINSTER, Md. – McDaniel will host Muhlenberg for the first-round game of the 2014 Centennial Conference (CC) women's lacrosse championship on Wednesday. Game time is 7 p.m.

The fourth-seeded Green Terror (9-7, 5-4 CC) faces the fifth-seeded Mules (10-6, 4-5 CC) with the winner advancing to Saturday's semifinals at Gettysburg.

Gettysburg (14-2, 8-1 CC), ranked No. 7 in the latest IWLCA Division III coaches poll, will host Wednesday's winner in the day's first semifinal to begin at 1 p.m. Franklin & Marshall (14-4, 8-1 CC), ranked sixth in the same poll, will face Washington (11-4, 7-2 CC) in the day's other semifinal not before 3:30 p.m. or 45 minutes following the conclusion of the day's first semifinal.

The semifinal winners will advance to Sunday's championship game, which will begin at 1 p.m.

The tournament's champion will earn the CC's automatic bid to the 2014 NCAA Division III tournament, slated to begin on May 8. The NCAA field will be announced on Sunday at 9:30 p.m.

The Green Terror is seeking its first conference title. It is the second straight tournament appearance for McDaniel.

In the regular-season meeting between the Green Terror and Mules, McDaniel prevailed 15-10 in Westminster on Apr. 12.

Junior Danielle Entrot (Ellicott City, Md./Centennial) led McDaniel during the regular season with 73 points on 48 goals and 25 assists. She also led the team with 56 draw controls.

Junior Julia Jacobs (Stevensonville, Md./St. Mary's) led the team during the regular season with 55 goals and added nine assist to rank third with 64 points.

Sophomore Sam Barbeito (Wolfsville, Md./Middletown) led the squad with 38 assists and ranked second with 67 points after adding 29 goals.

Senior Lauren McCadden (Bel Air, Md./C. Milton Wright) led the defense during the regular season with 18 caused turnovers and 32 ground balls.
