Geiger nets career-high six goals

SWARTHMORE, Pa. – Swarthmore jumped out to a 6-1 lead to key a 12-8 victory over McDaniel in Centennial Conference (CC) women's lacrosse action on Saturday.

Olivia Geiger (Ellicott City, Md./Marriotts Ridge) led the Green Terror (4-10, 0-7 CC) with a career-high six goals. It was the most goals by any McDaniel player since Mar. 2016.

Elizabeth Wainwright led the Garnet (8-6, 2-5 CC) with five goals while Tess Wild added two goals and three assists.

Briana Narzikul converted a free-position goal just 1:46 into the game before Wild finished a solo run just over two minutes later for a 2-0 advantage.

Abby Phillips (New Freedom, Pa./North Harford [Md.]) got the Green Terror on the board, finishing a Megan Kotelchuck (Crofton, Md./Elizabeth Seton) feed with 25:09 on the clock.

Free-position tallies from Wild and Sophie Peipher around Wainwright's first marker capped a stretch of three goals in a 2-minute, 49-second stretch. Taylor Chiang added another eight-meter goal just over a minute later for a five-goal lead.

Tori Arcilesi (Bel Air, Md./Harford Tech) and Geiger scored two minutes apart to cut the deficit to 6-3 midway through the opening half.

Wainwright pushed the lead back to four before Geiger completed her hat trick with back-to-back tallies, closing the margin to 7-5 at the break.

Narzikul and Geiger traded tallies in the first three minutes of the second half before Wainwright and Peipher pushed the lead to 10-6 with 19:39 to play.

Geiger and Wainwright traded goals the rest of the way for the final margin.

Allison Farrell (Towson, Md./Loch Raven) corralled seven draw controls for McDaniel. Geiger added three caused turnovers and three ground balls.

The Green Terror returns to action at home against No. 3 Gettysburg on Wednesday. Game time is 4 p.m.
