CARLISLE, Pa. – Dickinson had the final say in a back-and-forth affair, outscoring McDaniel 4-1 over the final 6:53 for a 13-12 Centennial Conference (CC) women's lacrosse victory on Wednesday.
Megan Quattrone (Carlisle, Pa./Carlisle Area) recorded her first hat trick of the season for the Green Terror (4-6, 0-3 CC) while Olivia Geiger (Ellicott City, Md./Marriotts Ridge) paced the squad with four goals.
Anne Dunster led the Red Devils (5-5, 2-1 CC) with four goals and two assists.
Trailing 11-9 after Quattrone capped her three-goal outing to put the exclamation point on a four-goal run by McDaniel, Sam Marmo netted her first goal of the night to draw the hosts within two with 6:53 to play.
Marmo made it back-to-back tallies just 1 minute, 15 seconds later to knot the score.
Geiger finished a solo run with 2:27 to play, putting her team back on top by one but the Red Devils found the back of the net twice in a 34-second stretch.
Laurie Travaglni drew the game even with 1:59 to play and Marmo capped her own hat trick with the game-winner.
Maddie Parker and Anne Dunster staked Dickinson to a 2-0 lead in the game's first 1:46.
Geiger finished a solo run then Emily Brownawell (Sparks, Md./Oldsfield) converted a free-position goal 30 seconds apart to draw the contest level with 26:36 remaining.
Dickinson, keyed by three of Dunster's goals, scored five of the next six goals to take a 7-3 lead with 13:58 showing.
Goals from Megan Kotelchuck (Crofton, Md./Elizabeth Seton), Geiger and Brownawell trimmed the margin to 7-6 with 5:12 on the clock but Erika Bloes scored with 19 ticks remaining to make it a two-goal game at the break.
Quattrone finished a free-position attempt 1:31 into the second half before Bloes did the same thing just over a minute later to stretch the lead back to two.
Lindsey Farrell (Towson, Md./Loch Raven) added two goals, four draw controls and two caused turnovers. Geiger chipped in four draw controls, three ground balls and two caused turnovers.
The Green Terror returns to action at home against Ursinus on Saturday. Game time is 1 p.m.
