McDaniel closes Florida trip with 1-2 showing at Citrus Duals

FT. LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Brock Glotfelty (Grantsville, Md./Northern Garrett) recorded a pair of pins to lead McDaniel to a 1-2 day at the Citrus Duals in non-conference wrestling action on Tuesday.

The Green Terror (2-6) opened the day with a 34-17 loss to Wilmington before winning the final five bouts against Washington & Jefferson to overcome a 22-0 deficit and win 24-22. McDaniel closed its Florida trip with a 37-9 loss to Oneonta.
Glotfelty improved to 19-0 on the season, capping the win over Washington & Jefferson with a 3-minute, 35-second fall. He added a first-period pin in the Oneonta match to account for six of the squad’s nine points.
Wilmington raced out to a 15-0 lead after three bouts before Brent Lowe (Dumfries, Va./Forest Park) broke up the shutout with a technical fall at 149.
After Thomas Bohrer extended the lead to 19-5, Zach Hetrick (Hanover, Pa./South Western) recorded a pin in 4:42 but back-to-back wins from the Quakers sealed the match.
Trailing 22-0 to the Presidents, Hetrick notched a pin one minute into his 165-pound match before Courtney Nightengale (Sublette, Kan./Cimmaron) trimmed the deficit to 22-9 with a 6-4 win.
A Ryan Deiter (Clarksville, Md./River Hill) win by injury default made it a 22-15 match with two bouts remaining.
Will Yeo (Lexington Park, Md./Great Mills) recorded an 8-3 win at 197 to pull the Green Terror within four with Glotfelty left to wrestle. Glotfelty remained perfect on the year, giving his squad the match victory in the process.
Hetrick, who went 3-0 on the day, broke up an Oneonta whitewash with a 5-4 win to turn a 23-0 deficit into a 23-3 match but three more Red Dragon victories sealed the win.
The Green Terror returns to action at the North/South Duals hosted by Ursinus on Saturday.
