GRANTHAM, Pa. – Five McDaniel wrestlers finished in the top three in their respective weight classes to lead the squad in season-opening action at the Messiah Invitational on Saturday.

As a team, the Green Terror finished third with 75.5 points. The host Falcons won the team title with 112.5 points while Elizabethtown finished second with 79.5.

Joe Camlin (Westminster, Md./Winters Mill) and Mike O'Boyle (North Reading, Mass./North Reading) took home individual titles at the far ends of the spectrum, winning at heavyweight and 125, respectively.

Earl Eppard (Baltimore, Md./Lansdowne) and Brent Lowe (Dumfries, Va./Forest Park) added runner-up finishes while Logan Yox (Westminster, Md./Liberty) finished third.

O'Boyle opened his collegiate career with an 8-3 decision over Coast Guard's Nate Giorgio before a 6-minute, 24-second pin of the No. 2 seed Danny Lethbridge (Messiah) and 7-4 win over No. 3 Kyle Coblentz (Messiah) put the freshman in the finals against his teammate.

Eppard, the No. 5 seed, opened the tournament with a 10-1 major decision over Corey Aspril (Elizabethtown) before downing the No. 4 seed Spencer Alexander (Messiah) 4-0 and Robert D'Annunzio (Ursinus), 4-1.

O'Boyle bettered Eppard 7-3 in the title tilt.

Camlin, taking over the starting spot from all-time wins leader Brock Glotfelty for the first time, entered as the sixth seed. He opened with a bye before notching three first-period falls for the crown.

Camlin downed No. 3 Martin Kisla (Waynesburg) in 50 seconds and Elizabethtown's Jeremy Rieth in 1:41 to advance to the championship bout, where he pinned the top-seeded William Meaney of Elizabethtown in 1:33.

At 157, Lowe recorded three technical falls and a pin to advance to the title match. The top seed notched a 15-0 first-period technical fall and 4-minute, 12-second fall in his first two bouts.

He added a second 15-0 victory – this time in 4:19 – and an 18-2 win in 5:59. In the title match, No. 3 Chris Hardenberg (Messiah) prevailed, 4-3.

Yox, the No. 5 seed at 149, drew a bye in the opening round before notching an 8-4 decision over Kody Rittenbaugh (Elizabethtown). Fourth-seeded Brian Samuels (UMBC) recorded a 2-minute, 55-second fall to relegate Yox to the consolation bracket, where he won four matches to finish third.

Yox notched decision wins of 9-3, 7-3 and 8-5 on his way back through the bracket and was also awarded a medical forfeit in the consolation semifinals.

Sean Ensign (Westminster, Md./Westminster) added a 3-2 day at 133. He started the day with a 5-2 win before falling to the consolation bracket with an 8-0 loss to No. 4 Jordan Stepanchick (Elizabethtown).

In the consolation bracket, he notched pins of 6:27 and 4:34 before No. 6 Jake Vitolo defeated Ensign, 9-2.
