Tancredi wins by major decision
YORK, Pa. – No. 15 York (Pa.) won the final five bouts of the night to turn a 10-9 deficit into a 27-10 victory over McDaniel in non-conference wrestling action on Friday.
Mike Tancredi (Wall, N.J./Wall Twp.) recorded a major decision at 133 to lead the Green Terror (6-13), who closed the dual-meet season against three straight ranked opponents.
Chris Albirght led the Spartans (25-4) with the night's only pin, winning by fall in 2:30 at 141.
Joey Giaccio opened the action with a 7-2 win at 125 before Tancredi won 13-4 to give McDaniel a 4-3 lead.
Yox won 6-4 at 149 before Lowe was victorious 6-3 at 157.
Trent Bond, however, put York on top for good one bout later with a 6-2 win at 165.
Matt Heisey stretched the lead to 16-10 with a 12-2 victory at 174 before Alex Martocello used an 18-2 technical fall to virtually seal the match after two periods of the 184 match.
Jeff Goldhagen (197) and George Saliba (HWT) closed out the match with wins of 7-2 and 6-2, respectively.
The Green Terror returns to at the Centennial Conference Championship hosted by Gettysburg on Saturday, Feb. 25. Action begins at 10 a.m.
