Blake to be inducted to Maryland Hall
WESTMINSTER, Md. – McDaniel wrestling coach Davey Blake '03 will be inducted into the Maryland State Wrestling Hall of Fame this weekend at the Maryland Public Secondary Schools Athletic Association state tournament at University of Maryland-College Park's Cole Field House.
Blake, who just completed his fifth season as the head coach of the Green Terror and ninth total on staff, was a three-time Maryland State champion and a four-time state finalist. He recorded a high school career record of 141-2
He was a Cliff Keen All-American and Dave Schultz Award winner during his high school career before starting his collegiate career at Division I Appalachian State, where he took second at 149 in the Southern Conference in 2001, before transferring to McDaniel, where he took second place at 141 during the 2003 Centennial Conference championship meet.
Davey's father, Art '71, was inducted into the same Hall of Fame in 1999.
The Maryland State Wrestling Hall of Fame was established in 1975 to honor those persons who have dedicated much of their time to the sport of high school wrestling within the State or to outstanding coaches or wrestlers who have given prominence to the sport of Maryland wrestling through their achievements.
