Baer, McCallum key McDaniel win in consolation game at Hood
FREDERICK, Md. – Rachel McCallum (Brunswick, Md./Brunswick) scored both McDaniel goals in a 2-1 victory over Hood in the consolation game of the Kim Servedio Tournament in non-conference women’s soccer action on Sunday.
Brittany Baer (Westminster, Md./Westminster) found McCallum once in each half to help the Green Terror (1-1) even its record on the young season.
Katherine Rendon tallied the lone goal for the Blazers (0-2), who outshot McDaniel 12-8 in the contest.
After Rendon evened the game off a Carlie Colella corner kick in the 50th minute, Baer found McCallum for the second time 11 minutes later.
It took the Green Terror just 5 minutes, 12 seconds into its second game of the season to find the net. Baer played a ball through to McCallum, who beat the Hood keeper to the right.
A day after matching her career high, Leanne Hollinger (Westminster, Md./Winters Mill) needed to make just five saves on the second day of the season to even her record in goal.
The Green Terror returns to action in the home opener against St. Mary’s (Md.) on Wednesday. Game time is 4 p.m.
