Crawford records goal and assist for Green Terror in 2-1 win over Franklin & Marshall
WESTMINSTER, Md. - Kelly Crawford (Galloway, N.J./Absegami) recorded a goal and an assist to lead McDaniel to a 2-1 victory over Franklin & Marshall in Centennial Conference (CC) women's soccer action on Saturday.
Despite being outshot 17-8, the Green Terror (3-8-1, 2-2 CC) capitalized on its opportunities to even its conference mark with six games to play. Leanne Hollinger (Westminster, Md./Winters Mill) backstopped the defense with 12 saves.
Hannah Savage tallied for the Diplomats (3-10, 1-4 CC), who also finished the game with a 7-4 edge in corner kicks.
Knotted at halftime, Cara Roig (Bel Air, Md./Bel Air) played a ball through the defense that Crawford collected before beating the Franklin & Marshall keeper and placing the ball in a wide-open backside of the net for her first collegiate tally at the 56:22 mark.
Hilary Hanus (Hockessin, Del./Cab Calloway School of the Arts) opened the scoring with her first career point in the game's 11th minute. Lisa Jurd (Columbia, Md./Hammond) played a long pass into the box from the right side that Crawford flicked off a defender right to Hanus, who found the upper half of the net.
With 3:50 remaining in the first half, Savage turned and fired from the top of the box, placing the ball just inside the upper-left corner of the net.
