Seahawks outshoot Green Terror 42-8 in opener for both teams
ST. MARY'S CITY, Md. – Jan Woolley (Ephrata, Pa./Ephrata) made 20 saves in her first collegiate start between the pipes to key a 1-all double-overtime draw for McDaniel in season-opening women's soccer action at St. Mary's (Md.) on Friday.
The Green Terror (0-0-1) got on the board early with an unassisted tally by Hilary Hanus (Hockessin, Del./Cab Calloway School of the Arts) just 2 minutes, 49 seconds into the game.
The Seahawks (0-0-1) responded with a Tori Eskay chip to the far post just 7:50 later before the defenses took over.
St. Mary's finished with a commanding 42-8 advantage in shots, including a 13-2 edge in the pair of 10-minute extra sessions but Woolley came up with all the necessary saves to preserve the tie.
Liz Beall (Westminster, Md./Winters Mill) had two shots off the bench for McDaniel while Eskay and Yvonne Latour each had eight to pace the Seahawks.
The Green Terror returns to action at Stevenson on Thursday. Game time is 4 p.m.
