WESTMINSTER, Md. – McDaniel capped a 5-minute, 12-second flurry of goal-scoring to defeat Franklin & Marshall 2-1 in Centennial Conference (CC) women's soccer action on Wednesday.

Meghan Sturgill (Westminster, Md./Winters Mill) broke a 1-all deadlock for the Green Terror (9-2, 3-1 CC), running the team's winning streak to six games in the first home game in more than three weeks.

Nicole Rynecki led the Diplomats (4-3-3, 2-1-2 CC) with her team-leading sixth goal of the season.

After Rynecki got the scoring going, finishing a Spencer Plante cross from the endline 10:54 into the contest, McDaniel responded in short order.

On the second of consecutive corner kicks, Nicole Hill (Bowie, Md./Bowie) played a short ball into Chloe Allen-Gorman (Portland, Ore./Lincoln), who served a ball in front of the cage. Sam Wilson (New Castle, Colo./Coal Ridge) headed the ball to the net and through the hands of the Diplomat keeper to even the game at the 14:09 mark.

Less than three minutes later, Sturgill and Hill combined a fast-break opportunity. After the through ball was cycled back out to Hill at the right sideline, the freshman played a ball across the field. Sturgill was waiting on the backside post and dove towards the oncoming ball, heading it into the backside of the net to set the final margin.

Haley Jacobs (Forest Hill, Md./North Harford) made six saves for McDaniel while Amanda McGowan made two stops for Franklin & Marshall.

The Diplomats finished with a slim 12-11 edge in shots while the Green Terror held a 6-1 advantage in corner kicks.

McDaniel returns to action at home against Swarthmore on Saturday. Game time is 1 p.m.
