Three earn All-CC women’s soccer honors

LANCASTER, Pa. – Three members of the McDaniel women's soccer team have been named to the All-Centennial Conference (CC) team, released on Wednesday.

Julia Pope (Manchester, Md./North Carroll) and Sam Wilson (New Castle, Colo./Coal Ridge) were named to the second team while Nicole Hill (Bowie, Md./Bowie) was tabbed honorable mention.

Wilson also earned the conference's scholar-athlete award with her 3.977 grade-point average in psychology.

Second-year head coach Sandy Lagana was also named the conference's Coach of the Year.

Pope, a senior forward, ranks second on the team with eight goals, five assists and 21 points. She has started 18 of the team's 19 games this season.

Wilson, a senior defender, has started all 18 games in which she has played and been a key member of a defense that has a 1.14 goals-against average. She has also contributed five goals and an assist to the offense.

Hill, a freshman forward, leads the team with nine goals, six assists and 24 points. She has started 17 of the team's 19 games this season. She scored in five straight games between Sept. 17 and Oct. 5 during a stretch in which she was named CC Offensive Player of the Week three straight weeks.

Lagana led the team from a 2-7-1 conference season to a 6-4 mark and the squad's first-ever CC tournament appearance.

The Green Terror (13-5-1, 6-4 CC) returns to action at home against Arcadia in the first round of the ECAC South tournament on Wednesday. Game time is 2 p.m.
