LANCASTER, Pa. – McDaniel controlled play but could not find the back of the net until the 81st minute in a 1-0 Centennial Conference (CC) women's soccer victory at Franklin & Marshall on Thursday.
Kristen Upton (Chalfont, Pa./Central Bucks South) scored the lone goal for the Green Terror (11-1, 4-0 CC) on a corner.
Nicole Savidge led the Diplomats (5-8, 0-5 CC) with six saves in net.
After having numerous good looks throughout the first 80 minutes, it wasn't until McDaniel was awarded its eighth corner kick of the game that it was able to convert on its 21st shot attempt of the contest.
Nicole Hill (Bowie, Md./Bowie) sent a ball into the box that Upton headed just to the right of the Franklin & Marshall keeper with 9:11 to play.
Upton was also key to the defense that limited the Diplomats to just five shots – none on goal – and earned the team's 10th shutout of the season.
McDaniel returns to action at No. 22 Swarthmore on Saturday. Game time is 3 p.m.
