HAVERFORD, Pa. – McDaniel and Haverford scored fewer than eight minutes apart but neither team could tally the game-winner, resulting in a 1-all draw in Centennial Conference (CC) women's soccer action on Saturday.
Katie Kirschenmann (Damascus, Md./Damascus) led the 23rd-ranked Green Terror (13-1-1, 6-0-1 CC) with a goal in the 65th minute.
Kristen Fiore scored for the Fords (9-3-3, 3-2-2 CC) nearly eight minutes later to force the draw.
Kirschenmann dribbled to create space before finishing in the top-left corner for the game's first goal at the 64:18 mark.
Fiore then finished on a deflection off a corner kick at the 72:05 mark.
The hosts had a pair of chances in the waning seconds of regulation but could not find the back of the net, forcing the Green Terror to overtime for just the second time this season.
McDaniel finished the two extra 10-minute sessions with a slim 5-4 edge in shots but could not convert to drop behind Johns Hopkins for the top spot in the conference standings.
Sarah McDonald (Yardley, Pa./Pennsbury) made seven saves for the Green Terror in goal while Kathy Prescott made three stops at the other end.
Haverford finished with a 19-14 advantage in shots while McDaniel had an 11-7 edge in corner kicks.
The Green Terror hosts the 18th-ranked Blue Jays on Tuesday in a critical battle in the conference standings. Johns Hopkins would clinch the top spot in the conference tournament with a win. A McDaniel win would give the Green Terror the upper hand entering the final weekend of the regular season. Game time is 3:30 p.m.
