WESTMINSTER, Md. – McDaniel scored three times in the game's first 27 minutes en route to a 4-0 win over Washington (Md.) on Saturday, securing the top seed in next week's Centennial Conference (CC) women's soccer tournament.
Nicole Hill (Bowie, Md./Bowie) and Katie Clawson (Waynesboro, Pa./Waynesboro Area) each recorded a goal and an assist to lead the 22nd-ranked Green Terror (15-1-1, 8-0-1 CC) to its first-ever regular-season title. McDaniel will host the semifinals on next Saturday and championship game on Sunday. Game times will be determined on Monday morning.
Courtney Colbert made two saves for the Shorewomen (5-10-1, 0-9 CC), who were outshot 12-1 in the game and didn't have an attempt until the final 20 seconds.
Clawson opened the scoring, heading home a cross from Hill on the right side for a 1-0 lead just 7:09 into the contest.
Nearly six minutes later, Clawson found Catherine Wroblewski (Glen Mills, Pa./Cardinal O'Hara) from the right side to double the advantage.
Hill made it 3-0 in the 27th minute before Katie Kirschenmann (Damascus, Pa./Damascus) beat the defense and finished top shelf in the 88th minute for the final margin.
Haley Jacobs (Forest Hill, Md./North Harford) picked up the shutout in goal – McDaniel's 13th of the year.
