WESTMINSTER, Md. – McDaniel tallied a pair of goals in the first 18 minutes of the game to upend No. 6 Swarthmore 4-3 in Centennial Conference (CC) women's soccer action on Saturday.
Katie Kirschenmann (Damsacus, Md./Damascus) netted the eventual game-winner for the Green Terror (7-1, 3-0 CC), putting the hosts in front 4-2 in the 67th minute.
Hannah Lichtenstein scored two of the three goals for the Garnet (8-1, 2-1 CC), who suffered its first loss of the season.
Maddie Schwartz (Lancaster, Pa./Hempfield) staked McDaniel to a 1-0 lead just 13:12 into the game before Marissa Funke (Kings Park, N.Y./Southtown West) scored her second goal in as many games, finishing an Abby Keen (Salisbury, Md./Parkside) pass just over four minutes later.
Lichenstein finished a solo run to cut the deficit in half at the 29:46 mark before Kristen Worry (Lancaster, Pa./Lampeter-Strasburg) pushed the lead back to two just 9:24 until halftime. Kathryn Dixon (New Bern, N.C./New Bern) recorded the assist for her first collegiate point.
Lichtenstein once again drew the Garnet within one, scoring in the 59th minute before Kirschenmann finished a Kristen Upton (Chalfont, Pa./Central Bucks South) feed on a corner nearly eight minutes later.
Marin McCoy tallied her conference-leading 10th goal of the season at the 81:35 mark.
Swarthmore finished with a 14-11 edge in shots while each team took five corner kicks.
Sarah McDonald (Yardley, Pa./Pennsbury) made seven saves in the first 81 minutes in goal.
McDaniel returns to action at Goucher on Tuesday. Game time is 7 p.m.
