Dixon scores twice in victory

BRYN MAWR, Pa. – McDaniel took a 3-0 lead just 15:46 into the game en route to an 8-1 win over Bryn Mawr in Centennial Conference (CC) women's soccer action on Saturday.

Kathryn Dixon (New Bern, N.C./New Bern) led the Green Terror (9-3, 5-1 CC) with a pair of goals and added one assist.

Emily Elmore scored for the Owls (0-9, 0-5 CC), converting a penalty kick in the 16th minute.

With the victory, sixth-year head coach Sandy Lagana recorded her 72nd victory on the McDaniel sidelines to become the program's all-time winningest coach.

Katie Kirschenmann (Damascus, Md./Damascus) opened the scoring, finding the back of the net just 81 seconds into the game off a pass from Allie Titus (Frederick, Md./Gov. Thomas Johnson).

Paola Rosa (Laurel, Md./Reservoir) turned around a restart by Bryn Mawr to double the lead at the 11:27 mark. An own goal just over four minutes later made it a 3-0 game.

After the Owl penalty-kick goal, Dixon netted her first collegiate goal, converting on the break in the 35th minute.

Kristen Upton (Chalfont, Pa./Central Bucks South) scored off a corner kick less than two minutes later to make it a 5-1 game at the break.

Kristen Worry (Lancaster, Pa./Lampeter-Strasburg) finished a high shot in the 49th minute before Annalise Bell (Highlands Ranch, Colo./Rock Canyon) finished off a Dixon assist.

Dixon set the final score on a fast break in the 69th minute.

McDaniel finished with advantages of 26-1 in shots and 11-0 in corner kicks.

Leah Baer made 14 saves in goal for Bryn Mawr.

The Green Terror returns to action at home against No. 11 Johns Hopkins on Wednesday. Game time is 4 p.m.
