Upton records goal, assist in road win

HAVERFORD, Pa. – McDaniel scored twice in a 1-minute, 14-second span to break open a 1-0 game and defeat Haverford 4-0 in Centennial Conference (CC) women's soccer action on Saturday.

Kristen Upton (Chalfont, Pa./Central Bucks South) led the Green Terror (10-4, 6-2 CC) with a goal and an assist in addition to keying a defense that posted its sixth shutout of the season.

Julie Hanss made three saves to lead the Fords (7-4-2, 4-2-1 CC), who outshot McDaniel 16-10 on the day. Haverford held a 9-2 advantage in the first half but trailed 1-0 at the break.

Katie Kirschenmann (Damascus, Md./Damascus) finished a Lindsey Farrell (Towson, Md./Loch Raven) cross just 3:08 into the game for the first half's lone goal.

Abby Keen (Salisbury, Md./Parkside) converted a penalty kick in the 57th minute before finding Upton's head on a corner kick for a 3-0 lead at the 57:59 mark.

Upton then crossed into Maddie Schwartz (Lancaster, Pa./Hempfield), who finished a volley in the 82nd minute.

Sydney Kelly (Windsor, Pa./Eastern York) made seven saves for her first collegiate shutout.

The Green Terror had a 5-4 edge in corner kicks.

McDaniel returns to action at Catholic on Wednesday. Game time is 3:30 p.m.
