LANCASTER, Pa. – Four members of the McDaniel women's soccer team have been named to the All-Centennial Conference (CC) team, released on Thursday.
Kristen Upton (Chalfont, Pa./Central Bucks South) was named to the first team while Katie Kirschenmann (Damascus, Md./Damascus) and Abby Keen (Salisbury, Md./Parkside) earned second-team honors. Marissa Funke (Kings Park, N.Y./Smithtown West) was tabbed honorable mention.
Upton, a senior defender, makes her third All-CC nod after being tabbed second team in 2015 and first team last season. Starting all 19 games, she has keyed a backline that has posted a 1.07 goals-against average and eight shutouts. She has also contributed two goals and an assist.
Kirschenmann, a senior forward, makes her second appearance on the all-conference team after being tabbed honorable mention in 2016. Starting all 19 games, she leads the team with eight goals and 18 points.
Keen, a senior midfielder, makes her first all-conference appearance. She has started all 19 games and leads the team with eight assists. She has also added two goals and is second on the team with 12 points.
Funke, a junior defender, is making her second all-conference appearance after earning second-team honors a year ago. Starting 16 of the 17 games in which she appeared, she has joined Upton as a stalwart on the backline. She has also added two goals and three assists.
The Green Terror (12-5-2, 6-3-1 CC returns to action against Lynchburg in the first round of the NCAA tournament at Christopher Newport on Saturday. Game time is 7:30 p.m.
