Gettysburg downs McDaniel
Bullets take five firsts in 103-80 win
GETTYSBURG, Pa. – Caroline Coolidge won a pair of individual events to lead Gettysburg to a 103-80 victory over McDaniel in Centennial Conference (CC) women's swimming action on Wednesday.
The Bullets (3-0, 2-0 CC) recorded five first-place finishes. The Green Terror (0-2, 0-2 CC) touched first in the other five events, including both relays.
Emma Duesterhaus (Spartanburg, S.C./Spartanburg Day) notched her first collegiate three-win outing, including as the anchor on the meet-opening 200 medley relay.
Kerrie Vanscoy (Frederick, Md./Tuscarora), Rachel Walega (Ambler, Pa./Wissahickon) and Brittney Lenz (Pasadena, Md./Chesapeake) joined Duesterhaus to combine for a program-record time of 1:53.18.
Ali Roth, who was also a double winner for the Bullets, touched first in the 200 freestyle with a time of 2:04.17. She also won the 100 butterfly (1:02.97). Coolidge's two wins came in the 400 IM (4:49.97) and 500 freestyle (5:22.85).
Duesterhaus tallied individual wins in the 50 free (25.57) and 100 backstroke (1:00.78). Her time in the backstroke set a new program-best mark in the event.
Walega made it a two-win night with a victory in the 100 breaststroke (1:08.83).
The Green Terror returns to action at Ursinus on Saturday. Meet time is 1 p.m.
