Knadler leads way to win in semester finale

WESTMINSTER, Md. – McDaniel won 10 of the 11 events to down Hood 67-28 and close the first semester with a non-conference women's swimming victory on Saturday.

Five different swimmers won twice for the Green Terror (3-4), including freshman Sydney Knadler (Crowley Lake, Calif./Mammoth), who recorded season-best times in her two victories.

Lauren Fogarty recorded the lone win for the Blazers (6-4), touching first in the 1000 free with a time of 11:17.17.

Knadler won the 200 IM in a time of 2:19.00, which was 0.18 seconds better than her previous best, which ranks ninth all-time. She also touched first in the 100 free with a time of 55.44 seconds – 0.30 seconds better than her 10th-place all-time mark.

Shannon McClellan (Boonsboro, Md./Boonsboro) added two individual victories, touching first in the 200 free (2:03.07) and 500 free (5:23.79).

Kerrie Vanscoy (Frederick, Md./Tuscarora), Abbie Schickler (Montgomery Village, Md./Covenant Life), Juliann Rossi (Marriottsville, Md./McDonogh) and Emily Gross (Red Lion, Pa./Red Lion) teamed to open the meet with a victory in the 200 medley relay, combining for a time of 1:55.09.

Vanscoy added a victory in the 100 butterfly with a time of 1:02.55.

Kerrin Holmes (Avondale, Pa./Avon Grove) touched first in the 50 free (25.73) while Emma Duesterhaus (Spartanburg, S.C./Spartanburg Day) won the 100 backstroke (1:02.61).

The duo joined Schickler and Meg Protzman (Elkridge, Md./Mount De Sales) to win the 200 freestyle relay in a time of 1:43.75

Kelly Lewis (Montgomery Village, Md./Watkins Mill) rounded out the winners, taking the 100 breaststroke in a time of 1:10.71.

Rossi added a second-place finish in the 100 butterfly (1:04.03) while Lexie Jacobs (Forest Hill, Md./North Harford) was second in the 1000 free (11:27.96) and 100 breaststroke (1:13.29).

The Green Terror returns to action at Salisbury on Sunday, Jan. 5. Meet time is 1 p.m.
