Duesterhaus, Schickler win three times in victory

SALISBURY, Md. – McDaniel won 10 of the first 12 events to defeat Salisbury 148-109 in non-conference women's swimming action on Sunday.

Emma Duesterhaus (Spartanburg, S.C./Spartanburg Day) and Abbie Schickler (Montgomery Village, Md./Covenant Life) each won three times for the Green Terror (4-4), including as part of the 200-meter medley relay to open the meet.

Swimming in a pool measured in meters for the only time this season, Duesterhaus and Schickler joined Brittney Lenz (Pasadena, Md./Chesapeake) and Kerrin Holmes (Avondale, Pa./Avon Grove) to win the medley relay in a time of 2:10.26.

Duesterhaus also won the 50 free (28.97 seconds) and 50 butterfly (31.99) while Schickler won the 50 breaststroke (36.98) and 100 free (1:04.71).

Victoria Radcliffe led the Sea Gulls (1-6) with three victories. She touched first in the 200 freestyle (2:14.99) and 100 breaststroke (1:22.30) and was also part of the 200 free relay.

Lenz made it a two-win day by touching first in the 100 butterfly with a time of 1:12.97.

Shannon McClellan (Boonsboro, Md./Boonsboro) was also a double winner, taking the 800-meter freestyle (10:12.20) and 400-meter freestyle (4:58.13).

Mary Concannon (Pennington, N.J./Hopewell Valley) and Kerrie Vanscoy (Frederick, Md./Tuscarora) were also victorious on the day. Concannon won the 50 backstroke in a time of 35.11 while Vanscoy won the 100-meter version in a time of 1:11.71.

Vanscoy also touched first in the 200 IM with a time of 2:41.49 but was swimming the race as exhibition after McDaniel had secured the victory.

The 200 free relay of Emily Gross (Red Lion, Pa./Red Lion), McClellan, Mariel Ramey (Framingham, Mass./Keystone National) and Meg Protzman (Elkridge, Md./Mt. De Sales) also touched first (2:00.45), swimming as exhibition.

Vanscoy, Kelly Lewis (Montgomery Village, Md./Watkins Mill), Lexie Jacobs (Forest Hill, Md./North Harford) and Concannon were second in the medley relay with a time of 2:12.32.

Jacobs added a second-place finish in the 200 free (2:17.91) while Lewis was second in the 50 breaststroke (37.89). Jacobs was also second in the 100 breaststroke (1:23.03).

Katelyn Wolf (Street, Md./John Carroll) was second in the 50 backstroke with a time of 35.50 seconds and the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:16.46.

Protzman added a second-place showing in the 100 free (1:06.30).

The Green Terror returns to action at Dickinson on Saturday, Jan. 18. Meet time is 1 p.m.
