Smith records three wins in victory

WESTMINSTER, Md. – Samantha Smith (Bangkok, Thailand/International School of Bangkok) won three times to lead McDaniel against Bryn Mawr in Centennial Conference (CC) women's swimming action on Saturday.

Scoring:

  • The Green Terror (6-5, 1-5 CC) defeated the Owls (0-7, 0-6 CC) by a score of 64-30.

Head of the Class: The following athletes won multiple events at the meet:

  • Individually, Samantha Smith won the 200 IM (2:19.14) and 100 free (56.23). She was also part of the winning 400 medley relay (4:12.41).
  • Individually, Syd Knadler (Crowley Lake, Calif./Mammoth) won the 200 free (2:06.82). She was also part of the winning 400 medley relay (4:12.41) and the winning 200 free relay (1:43.50).
  • Sara Hegna (Brielle, N.J./Manasquan) was part of the winning 400 medley relay (4:12.41) and 200 free relay (1:43.50).
  • Becca Sykes (Collegeville, Pa./Methacton) won the 100 free (11:36.07) and 500 free (5:38.96).

Striking Gold: The following athletes won a single event at the meet:

Precious Metal: The following athletes finished second or third in an event at the meet:

  • Joanna Wattenberg finished second in the 1000 free (11:47.20) and 100 free (58.90).
  • Kelly Lewis finished second in the 50 free (26.26).
  • Cara Dube (Milford, Conn./Joseph A. Foran) finished second in the 200 IM (2:21.63) and 500 free (5:45.19).
  • Sara Hegna finished second in the 200 backstroke (2:14.76).
  • Emma Perdue finished third in the 200 backstroke (2:25.92).
  • Carly Deickman (Bishopville, Md./Stephen Decatur) finished third in the 200 breaststroke (2:45.22).

For the Foes: The following Bryn Mawr athletes won events at the meet:

  • Lillian Oyen-Ustad won the 50 free (25.67) and 200 backstroke (2:14.75).
  • Becca Adlai-Gail won the 200 butterfly (2:31.31).
