Looking fine No. 9

Ninth-ranked Johns Hopkins defeats McDaniel

WESTMINSTER, Md. – Johns Hopkins, ranked third in the region and ninth in the nation, dropped just four games in nine matches to sweep McDaniel 9-0 in Centennial Conference (CC) women's tennis action on Thursday.

The Blue Jays (11-1, 8-0 CC) remained prefect in conference behind a quartet of 6-0, 6-0 wins in singles play.

Carissa Grove (Boonsboro, Md./St. Maria Goretti) took a game in each set at fourth singles for the Green Terror (1-12, 0-7 CC), falling to Vanessa Charubhumi, 6-1, 6-1.

Brittany Starlings (Mt. Airy, Md./Linganore) was the only other player to take a game, falling 6-1, 6-0 to Nandita Krishnan at No. 1 singles.

Becky Putnam (Mt. Airy, Md./Urbana) and Elise O'Meara (Bowie, Md./Elizabeth Seton) took the lone game for McDaniel in the three doubles matches, falling 8-1 to Charubhami and Lauren Fields in the third slot.

The Green Terror returns to action at Trinity (D.C.) on Friday. Match time is 3:30 p.m.
