McDaniel notches second win with 7-2 victory over Trinity

CHESTERTOWN, Md. – Carissa Grove (Boonsboro, Md./St. Maria Goretti) capped a 2-0 match with an 8-0 win at second singles to lead McDaniel to a 7-2 victory over Trinity (D.C.) in non-conference women's tennis action on Thursday.

In a late decision to play the makeup match at Washington after the Shorewomen and Tigers (0-11) met up, the Green Terror (2-14) took all seven contested matches, including winning the singles in pro-set play.

Grove and Brittany Starlings (Mt. Airy, Md./Linganore) teamed for an 8-1 win at No. 1 doubles before Starlings added an 8-1 victory at the top singles.

Sara Yost (Westminster, Md./Francis Scott Key) and Elise O'Meara (Bowie, Md./Elizabeth Seton) partnered for an 8-2 win at second doubles.

Yost capped her 2-0 outing with an 8-1 win at third singles while O'Meara won 8-5 at No. 4.

Becky Putnam (Mt. Airy, Md./Urbana) won 8-3 at fifth singles.

The Green Terror returns to action at Ursinus on Saturday. Match time is 1 p.m.
