Washington sweeps McDaniel in pro sets

CHESTERTOWN, Md. – Washington (Md.) took four of the five contested singles matches 8-0 to key a 9-0 Centennial Conference (CC) women's tennis win over McDaniel on Thursday.

The Shorewomen (14-2, 9-1), ranked ninth in the region, took the two contested doubles matches 8-1 as well as No. 1 singles by an 8-1 margin.

Brittany Starlings (Mt. Airy, Md./Linganore) led the Green Terror (1-14, 0-9 CC) with a game won in both singles and doubles.

Starlings paired with Carissa Grove (Boonsboro, Md./St. Vincent Goretti) at No. 1 doubles. Jordan Finnegan and Brittany Marshall won the match, 8-1.

Amanda Bercovici and Campbell McNicol won No. 2 doubles by the same margin.

Finnegan, Bercovi, McNicol and Kat Cohen won 8-0 in singles play at Nos. 2-5, respectively.

The Green Terror concludes the season at Ursinus on Saturday. Match time is 1 p.m.
