Pollard takes set

SWARTHMORE, Pa. – Swarthmore won all three doubles matches without dropping a game to key a 9-0 Centennial Conference (CC) victory over McDaniel on Sunday.

Laura Pollard (Federalsburg, Md./Colonel Richardson) led the Green Terror (3-3, 0-2 CC), winning the first set of her No. 4 singles match.

Pollard took the first set 6-3 before Epiphany English won the next set 6-2 and took the super-tiebreaker, 10-2.

Lia Carlson was one of three players for the Garnet (2-1, 1-0 CC) to go 2-0 without dropping a game.

Carlson teamed with Emily Rosenblum for an 8-0 win at first doubles before taking No. 1 singles, 6-0, 6-0.

Kelsey Johnson, who teamed with English for an 8-0 win at No. 2 doubles, won the second singles match, 6-0, 6-0.

Gayatri Iyengar also won twice without dropping a game, partnering with Brooke Wilkins for an 8-0 win at third doubles before taking No. 5 singles, 6-0, 6-0.

Kiersten Patron (Timonium, Md./Dulaney) won four games at third singles, falling to Katie Samuelson, 6-3, 6-1.

The Green Terror returns to action at home against Goucher on Thursday. Match time is 3 p.m.
